I’ve been in the community for six years, and ever since I entered the community, what I really really wanted to do was to serve my fellow youth. I didn’t want to serve the kids and I never saw myself actually doing it.
I don’t like children who are messy, unruly, and annoying. I just didn’t like kids in general, but the Lord had a different plan for me. He called me to serve His little ones. It is hard to say yes to something outside your comfort zone, but when God calls, you need to respond to His calling.
It was really difficult for me at first since I didn’t know how to dance, to sing, to tell jokes and make people laugh, to talk to children, and I have very little patience. But step by step, I learned to do these things, the Lord transformed me to be who He wants me to be. But I know the Lord is not done with me yet, and I am very excited to see what He has in store for me, for I know His plans are better than my plans.
I’m not just teaching the kids, but I am also learning to love and share more because of them. This is what God’s want me to do, to love and to give my life selflessly for others.
